Kristine Morrill

Founder and President

With 30 years of experience in the healthcare field, Kris’s background combines entrepreneurship, business development, market assessment and commercial strategy, along with clinical and regulatory expertise. In 2005, Kris founded KAMCommunications to provide medical communications services to start-ups and established ophthalmology companies. This was followed in 2008 by Medeuronet, the first pan-European company focused on supporting medical device start-ups entering the market. 

As founder and president of Medevise Consulting, Kris leads a senior-level, global team to support ophthalmic companies in bringing innovative technologies to market. She is supported by a board of directors that includes some of the most experienced entrepreneurs in ophthalmology. The company provides its clients with a custom approach that can include market access, regulatory and clinical support, and medical communications. 

Paul Bikard

Chief Financial Officer

Paul Bikard is an experienced finance executive who understands that science and patients are always at the front line. Paul brings over 20 years’ experience as a Chief Financial Officer, having started out at PwC and EY.

Sascha Burger

Chief Business Officer

With over a decade of experience in ophthalmology and dental technologies, Sascha’s background spans product development, marketing, and commercial strategy, alongside leadership roles in both corporate and start-up environments. At Danaher Inc., he held senior marketing positions driving global initiatives in dental technologies. At Carl Zeiss Meditec AG, he led product management for ophthalmic devices and played a key role in integrating IanTech Inc. into the Zeiss portfolio following its acquisition. 

In addition to his corporate leadership, Sascha has worked with several venture-backed start-ups in ophthalmology and medtech, supporting financing rounds and guiding technologies from early development through commercialization. Prior to joining Medevise, he founded Remarkable MedTech, a consultancy that supports European and U.S. companies in achieving product-market fit and commercial growth. 

Sascha holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Business and a Master’s degree in Business Psychology. He resides in Switzerland with his wife and two children.

Vance Thompson

Board Member

Vance Thompson, M.D., is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in laser vision correction and advanced cataract surgery. He is the director of refractive surgery at Vance Thompson Vision and a professor of ophthalmology at the Sanford USD School of Medicine. A recognized leader in LASIK and cataract surgery, Dr. Thompson is dedicated to advancing technology and improving patients’ visual outcomes.

Keeley Puls-Boever

Board Member

Keeley Puls-Boever, co-founder and CEO of True North Contract Research, began her career in eye care as an optician, where she developed a strong foundation in optics and patient care. Over the past 20+ years, she has contributed to more than 150 ophthalmic clinical trials spanning devices and drugs, from early feasibility to pivotal studies, and advanced through key leadership roles, including Director of Research at Vance Thompson Vision. Today, she leads True North with a unique blend of hands-on clinical knowledge and strategic research leadership, partnering with sponsors and sites to bring new treatments to patients while fostering teams that thrive on collaboration, curiosity, and purpose.

Bernie Haffey

Board Member

Bernie Haffey is the President and founder of Haffey&Co., with a track record of leading venture-backed medtech start-ups to $100M+ revenue and ~$1B exits. He previously held executive roles at Summit Technology, IntraLase, Mentor Corp., and HP’s Medical Products Group, and has served on multiple boards, including WaveTec Vision, Ocular Therapeutix (NASDAQ: OCUL), and On Target Laboratories

Gerd Auffarth

Board Member

Gerd Auffarth is Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at Heidelberg University and Head of the David J. Apple Center for Vision Research. An industry leader, he also directs the IVCRC and has been recognized globally, ranking second on The Ophthalmologist’s 2018 Power List of the world’s most influential figures in ophthalmology. Gerd is known for his groundbreaking work and unique experiences, including performing surgeries in North Korea in 2006.

Eric J Rothchild

Board Member

Eric J. Rothchild, M.D., is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in premium cataract, refractive, and corneal surgery. He has served as an adjunct professor and admissions committee member at the FAU School of Medicine, and leverages his expertise in business strategy, private equity, and practice acquisitions to help companies grow ophthalmic and surgical practices. Dr. Rothchild combines clinical excellence with leadership in advancing ophthalmology.
